HEBRON - Ma'an - A delegation of businessmen from Hebron met on Monday with the Director of the Customs Police in the Hebron Governorate, Abdul Karim Basayta, in the presence of the Deputy Director Fadi Makharza and a number of officers of the agency. The businessmen delegation was represented by the economic advisor Ahmed Hassouna, Munther Burhan al-Jabari and Muhammad Abu Turki. During the meeting, many issues of interest to the private sector were reviewed, in addition to the repercussions of the war on Gaza and its impact on the West Bank governorates through closures and Israeli practices on the ground, such as closing governorates and closures between cities, especially the Hebron Governorate, the Palestinian economic nerve center, which was greatly affected by these measures. During the meeting, the role of the Customs Police Department in protecting citizens and the private sector alike from the risks of smuggled goods and others that do not conform to Palestinian specifications was discussed, espec ially in these difficult circumstances. It was agreed to continue communication between the Customs Authority and the private sector to serve citizens and the national economy. At the end of the meeting, Counselor Hassouna thanked the Customs Police for their tireless work in protecting citizens and the national economy from the dangers surrounding it, stressing that joint cooperation and concerted efforts between all economic sectors and the competent authorities in the government will work to reduce the impact of the situation.
