A delegation representing the European Union was briefed on Wednesday on the rehabilitation and reconstruction work of the Basra Palace of Culture and Arts, which was carried out by UNESCO and funded by the European Union and was completed a year ago. The European Union delegation, represented by Krikor Mirang, included the consulting engineer Qusay Al-Shamkhawi, UNESCO representative in Basra, to a detailed explanation of the reconstruction project of this building and the efforts made by the organization to rehabilitate it, which is more than 100 years old. Al-Shamkhawi praised the staff of the Basra Palace of Culture, represented by its director, Basem Hussein Ghaleb, a government department affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, which occupies that building, with its great and distinguished cooperation, which is an important step in the success of the rehabilitation project and its completion within the announced time.
