International media revealed, today, Monday, the arrival of former Russian Defense Minister, current Secretary-General of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu to Tehran. It stated that "former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in Tehran today, Monday, on a visit aimed at deepening cooperation between Russia and Iran," indicating that "Shoigu will discuss with the new President Masoud Pezeshkian and senior military and security officials, enhancing bilateral cooperation in many areas, including security." For its part, the Iranian "Tasnim" agency said that "the visit comes at the invitation of the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian," noting that "its aim is to strengthen relations and discuss regional and international issues and bilateral security-political relations." This visit comes at a time when Iran confirmed, on Monday, its "legal right" to respond to Israel, which it attributed to carrying out the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
