Istanbul, The Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah revealed in a news report published today about an upcoming meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Moscow during next August. The newspaper said, quoting a source it described as reliable, that the meeting between Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, as he is the mediator between the two parties. The newspaper indicated that it is possible that Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani will participate in the meeting, without mentioning any information about the participation of the Iranian party, as some media outlets reported earlier. Erdogan had previously announced his willingness to meet Bashar al-Assad in Turkey or in another country to turn the page on the past, and he assigned his Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to organize this meeting. For his part, Bashar al-Assad confirmed his readiness to meet his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, provided t hat the meeting achieves the country's interest. Some Turkish media had previously reported that the meeting between Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad could be held in Baghdad with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.
