Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Wednesday that his country officially recognizes the State of Palestine, as of the 28th of this month. Sanchez told the Spanish representatives, "Next Tuesday, May 28, Spain will approve in the Council of Ministers the recognition of the Palestinian state." Sanchez accused his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, of "endangering the two-state solution in the Middle East" through his policy of "suffering and destruction" in the Gaza Strip, noting that "we are a peaceful people and this is what thousands of protesters show in the protests against the Gaza massacres."
