Algiers, The Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) commended Qatar's efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and its role in providing humanitarian and relief aid to the region. This came in the "Algeria Declaration" issued at the conclusion of the union's 36th conference, which saw participation from the Shura Council. The declaration praised Qatar's initiative to treat 1,500 Palestinians in its hospitals, recognizing Qatar's consistent support and ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza. It also lauded Qatar's role in promoting stability and peace in the region through diplomatic mediation, humanitarian initiatives, and efforts to resolve conflicts peacefully, thereby enhancing security and stability. The attendees emphasized that Qatar's efforts underscore its commitment to Arab causes and its pursuit of Arab solidarity and cooperation to ensure a better future. They reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause as a non-negotiable priority, condemning the crimes and violations committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. The declaration called on the international community to compel Israel to comply with international law and UN Security Council resolutions to halt these crimes, which amount to genocide and war crimes. It also stressed the importance of granting full UN membership to the State of Palestine, commending the countries like Spain, Norway, and Ireland that have recognized Palestinian statehood. The participants emphasized the need to unify Arab efforts to support the Palestinian cause in all international forums and rejected Israel's racist practices. The declaration called for enhanced Arab cooperation in facing security, economic, and social challenges and praised the efforts of Arab countries in supporting Palestine and working towards a just peace. Furthermore, it reaffirmed the rejection of terrorism and extremism and called for enhanced dialogue to achieve sustainable peace. The declaration highlighted the importance of combating "Islamop hobia," referencing the UN General Assembly's resolution to appoint a special envoy to combat hate against Muslims. It stressed the need to promote dialogue among civilizations and peoples to spread values of tolerance and peace. The conference discussed the current situation in the Arab region, the challenges facing joint Arab action, and ways to enhance cooperation among member states of the union.
