Baghdad, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed the depth of relations between Iraq and Iran, and the importance of proceeding with the agreements concluded between the two countries. The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement: "Al-Sudani met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, in the capital, Tehran, which he arrived at earlier today, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president. Al-Sudani congratulated Mr. Khamenei, wishing continued prosperity for the Islamic Republic of Iran, government and people, on the occasion of its election of a new president, and overcoming the ordeal of the tragic incident that led to the death of the late President Ibrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister and their companions. The Prime Minister stressed the depth of relations between Iraq and Iran, and the importance of proceeding with the agreements concluded between the two countries, in a way that achieves common interests in all fields. For h is part, Khamenei appreciated the efforts of the Iraqi government in securing the visit to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein and his companions (peace be upon them), facilitating the delegation of millions of visitors, and providing their comfort and transportation requirements. He considered this great effort a feature of the generosity of the Iraqi people. The meeting witnessed a review of the situation in the region, and the two sides stressed the need to stop the aggression on Gaza, and supporting efforts to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people, and prevent the expansion of the conflict regionally.
