Al-Sudani launches the executive works for the expansion projects of Al-Haidariya and Al-Najaf gas stations

Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani launched, today, Monday, the executive works on the expansion projects of (Al-Haidariya) and (Najaf) gas stations, with a combined cycle, with a total capacity of 495 MW, as well as the 400 KV transformer station project. Al-Sudani confirmed, according to a statement by his media office: "These projects are part of the strategic agreement with the German Siemens, which includes two phases, the first for three stations in Najaf, Karbala and Baghdad, and the other phase includes two stations in Basra and Diyala, with a total capacity of up to 7500MW," noting the importance of these projects for the electrical system, especially for Najaf, which faces a shortage in equipment compared to the level of electrical loads. The Prime Minister added: "The government has placed services, including electricity, its repair and improvement, at the forefront of its goals," referring to working to provide fuel and invest in associated gas, and raising the efficiency of the transportati on and distribution sectors, as well as improving work contexts and including an encouraging and beneficial economic model for the benefit of production and citizens. Al-Sudani stressed: "The wrong consumption policy needs to be reviewed, because it affects the performance of the grid," stressing: "These projects will contribute to relieving bottlenecks in the national grid, and distributing production and transportation." He announced his directive to the Minister of Electricity to be present in the field in Najaf for a week to supervise the teams working in the province and prepare for the Arbaeen visit, stressing that the heroes working in all electricity sectors, who work in this difficult atmosphere and high temperatures, deserve all appreciation, praise and encouragement. The production of electrical energy through the combined cycle provides many advantages, the most important of which is that it will add new electrical capacity without the need for additional fuel, and invest the burned gas, in add ition to saving billions of dollars annually by not consuming additional fuel.
