Prime Minister, Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani stressed the importance of working quickly to provide the best ways to manage and operate the holy Karbala Airport according to international standards for air transport service.
A statement from his media office stated that the plane carrying Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani and his accompanying delegation landed at Karbala International Airport this morning, Saturday, after work on it reached advanced stages.
According to the statement, al-Sudani held a meeting immediately upon his arrival, in the presence of the Minister of Interior, the Governor of Karbala, and the Secretary-General of the al-Abbas Holy Shrine, which included a number of advisors, general managers, and officials responsible for the project and the implementing company, where he expressed his happiness to land on the airport runway, and his appreciation for the efforts of the relevant ministries, the contributing al-Hussaini Holy Shrine, the local government of Karbala Governorate, and the
relevant federal ministries for what they have provided in order to complete this strategic project, describing the airport as an important and bright facade of Iraq’s international facades, and an outlet for receiving visitors from all over the world.
The Prime Minister toured the airport facilities, sections and operational utilities, and met with the implementing engineering staff. He also listened to a comprehensive presentation on the progress of work that has reached its final stages, where he expressed his hope to operate the airport during the upcoming visit to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
According to the statement, Al-Sudani directed to hold a periodic meeting every two months to follow up on the progress of work at Karbala International Airport, and at Nasiriyah and Mosul International Airports, stressing the importance of working quickly to provide the best ways to manage and operate the airport according to international standards for air transport services.
