Doha: Al Wakrah defeated Umm Salal 3-0 in Week 9 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday to extend their points tally to 14. Goals from Aissa Laidouni, Ayoub Assal, and Jacinto Dala contributed to Al Wakrah's victory, ensuring Umm Salal remained on 11 points. According to Qatar News Agency, Al Wakrah started strong with Laidouni scoring from 25 yards in the seventh minute. Although Umm Salal nearly equalized minutes later, Mohammed Al Bakri saved Antonio Mance's shot. Al Wakrah strengthened their position throughout the match and could have scored more if not for goalkeeper Landing Badji's efforts. Under coach Patrice Carteron, Umm Salal had opportunities, particularly through Oussama Tannane, but failed to capitalize. Al Wakrah maintained pressure in the second half, leading to Khaled Abdulraouf's dismissal in the 69th minute for violent conduct, reducing Umm Salal to 10 men. Al Wakrah took advantage of their numerical superiority, with Assal scoring in the 81st mi nute. Although a subsequent goal was rescinded after a VAR check, Dala secured the third goal in the 89th minute, assisted by Ricardo Gomes, ensuring a decisive win for Al Wakrah.
