Amani Al Tamimi: Transforming to smart cities guarantees PWD Rights

Mada – Assistive Technology Center Qatar participated in the activities of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) 2022, which was held at Qatar Foundation, presenting a live broadcast.

The Center was founded in 2010 as an initiative that aims at promoting digital inclusion and building a technology-based community that meets the needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Mada today is the world’s Center of Excellence in digital access in Arabic.

The Center participated in WISH by organizing the virtual Mada booth, through which participants were introduced to all the digital and social media platforms of the Center and were invited to view all its services and activities.

Ms. Amani Al Tamimi, Director of the Digital Access Programs Department at Mada Center, confirmed that the availability of policies, and legal, regulatory, and institutional frameworks is one of the most important challenges facing the transformation of projects to smart cities, as the development of policies and provision of frameworks will ensure the application of the right standards to establish smart cities. She added that having policies based on global standards for digital access is essential to enable PWDs and the elderly to enjoy their rights equally with others in the society.
