The Israeli Knesset has endorsed a controversial draft law that aims to limit some powers of the Supreme Court within a package that includes eight draft laws known as judicial overhaul plan propelled by the occupation government amid mass protests and rejection from the opposition.

The Israeli parliament speaker Amir Ohana said the parliament in its convened session on Monday endorsed the draft law with the approval of 64 votes without any dissenting votes after its deputies left the session in protest against the decision.

The voting started with the government parties rejecting all the 140 reservations set by the opposition concerning the draft law.

Outside the Knesset building, the Israeli occupation forces used water cannons to disperse the protesters campaigning for the coalition of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the religious nationalist, and removed the demonstrators who chained themselves and closed the road overlooking the building.

In a first reaction to the Knesset's decision, Leader of the Opposition Yair Lapid said the opposition will not surrender, adding that extremists will never determine the form of the state, stressing that the opposition will appeal the decision before the court on Tuesday.
