AP Speaker praises EU’s commendation of Bahrain’s human rights record

Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoomi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP) and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights, has praised the 2022 European Union (EU) Human Rights Reports, which commended Bahrain’s human rights record and cited its key achievements in this field.

Al-Asoumi expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s experience in various human rights fields and its firm approach spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who has given top priority to the human rights file, which enhanced Bahrain’s record in this field.

He asserted that the kingdom’s numerous human rights achievements, which have been acclaimed by international organisations, prove that Bahrain has established itself as a role model for human rights respect, peaceful coexistence and tolerance among the various groups of society, as well as for preserving the dignity of citizens and consolidating the foundations of the rule of law, thanks to its legislation and laws,

In this regard, he commended programmes and policies adopted by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which translates the royal interest in human rights on the ground.

The AP Speaker indicated that the Kingdom will carry on consolidating democracy and preserving human rights, through the enactment of the necessary legislation and laws in order to preserve the dignity of its citizens and residents, as well as maintain its unprecedented human rights gains, recognised by Arab and international organisations.
