Mogadishu: The Arab League has condemned the attempted attack on Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s motorcade by the Al-Shabaab militant group in Mogadishu.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Arab League expressed its complete solidarity with Somalia in its fight against terrorism and extremism. The organization called for international cooperation to eradicate terrorism and eliminate its sources.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when a landmine exploded near an intersection close to the presidential palace in central Mogadishu, targeting the Somali president’s motorcade. The Al-Shabaab militant group, affiliated with al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack.
