Arab League Emphasizes Role of Dialogues in Addressing Social Peace Issues

Doha: Intercultural and interreligious dialogues are crucial in addressing social peace issues such as extremism, hatred, and violence.

According to Qatar News Agency, an Arab League (AL) statement released in conjunction with ‘World Interfaith Harmony Week’ highlighted the occasion as an opportunity to promote values of tolerance and mutual respect among different religious adherents. The AL sees this as an important step toward achieving global peace and social stability.

The UN has unanimously adopted this occasion to be observed annually during the first week of February. The AL statement urged all member states, as well as governmental and non-governmental institutions, to support this global initiative. They are encouraged to work together to promote tolerance and mutual respect, aiming to build a future of peace and harmony.

Arab League Assistant Secretary-General and Head of Social Affairs Sector, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, emphasized the significance of the international initiative in fostering dialogue among religions and cultures. She noted the AL’s commitment to supporting peaceful coexistence in Arab societies, highlighting the belief that religious and cultural diversity is a source of strength and wealth for the Arab nation.
