Rabat: Arab Ministers of Culture highlighted the importance of promoting cultural and creative industries, as well as investing in the Arab world’s rich human, cultural, and creative resources.
According to Qatar News Agency, this came in the closing statement of the 24th session of the Conference of Arab Ministers Responsible for Cultural Affairs, held in Rabat under the theme “Cultural and Creative Industries: Challenges of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence.” The Ministry of Culture was represented at the conference by the Department of Culture and Arts.
The ministers stressed the need to create a platform aimed at unifying efforts and exchanging experiences to address challenges. The participants called for taking measures to carefully keep pace with the changes caused by artificial intelligence in creative professions, and to address the challenges related to skills and ethics.
The conference adopted the draft of the forward-looking plan for the development of cultural industries in Arab countries, as well as the recommendations of the Permanent Committee for Arab Culture, calling on the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) to follow up on the implementation of their contents in coordination with the relevant authorities in Arab countries.
The Arab Ministers of Culture noted the ongoing role of ALECSO in coordinating Arab work and providing the conditions for smooth communication and constructive cooperation between Arab countries and institutions, and called on the organization to expand the scope of its cultural programs and future plans.
They also expressed their congratulations for Morocco, along with Spain and Portugal, on hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on hosting the 2034 edition. They indicated that hosting the event will be a tremendous opportunity to highlight Arab organizational capabilities for global events, and promote cultural and creative industries in the Arab world.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Arab Ministers of Culture expressed their approval of the request submitted by Iraq to host the 25th session of the Conference of Arab Ministers Responsible for Cultural Affairs 2026, as well as their welcome of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – Mondiacult in 2029.
