A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "The Chargé d'Affaires of Iraq in Manama, Abdul Salam Saddam Muhaisen, met with the Undersecretary of the Bahraini Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Sheikh Hisham bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa, at the headquarters of the Bahraini Ministry of Interior. During the meeting, a number of issues of common interest were discussed. ".

The charge d'affaires reviewed, according to the statement, the strong and historical relations that bind the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, stressing Iraq's keenness to enhance cooperation and develop relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Bahraini Ministry of Interior praised the depth of the fraternal relations that bind the two countries and the aspiration for cooperation between the two countries. He also praised the Chargé d'Affairs and his keenness to develop relations between the two countries, stressing cooperation and joint coordination with the embassy and providing all facilities in the fields related to serving the Iraqi community, especially in what regarding residency, pointing out that Iraqis residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain are respected and cared for by everyone, and a number of them were granted golden residency.
