Manama, The Bahrain Oncology Centre has obtained accreditation from Vertex as a recognised centre for bone marrow transplantation and cell therapy services. Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), affirmed the commitment of RMS, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Government Hospitals, to intensify efforts to implement plans dedicated to treat patients in Bahrain. The RMS Commander highlighted the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, and the follow-up of Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), to provide quality and sustainable medical services in the Kingdom, especially for those who suffer from chronic diseases and Sickle cell disease. Brig adier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa affirmed that the Bahrain Oncology Centre provides its services in the field of genetic modification to treat blood diseases, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Government Hospitals, making Bahrain the first destination in the Middle East for utilising this treatment.
