Labour Minister, Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Council, praised Bahrain’s developed legislation and laws in protecting the labour force from all types of incidents, injuries and occupational illnesses. He stressed the growing importance accorded to boosting occupational health and safety by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
In a statement marking the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which is observed on April 28, the Labour Minister underscored that the occupational safety and health indicators over the past years mirror the great national efforts exerted in this context to ensure a secure and stable work environment to all workers.
The minister affirmed the importance of tackling the causes of occupational incidents at the work sites. He pointed out that preemptive measures, monitoring of the occupational health and safety supervisors at the worksites and using appropriate and safe equipment are necessary to prevent regrettable work incidents.
The Minister of Labour called on employers to avail of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work to further boost labour protection at all levels so as to preserve human resources and develop them in a secure and stable labour market.
