Basra Governorate Police Chief, Major General Latif Abdul-Rida Al-Saad, announced today, Thursday, the launch of a massive campaign to implement arrest warrants against defendants wanted by the judiciary. The Police Command stated in a statement that the detachments of the Basra Anti-Crime Department were able to arrest a defendant accused of premeditated murder, who is wanted in accordance with the provisions of Article 406 of the Penal Code, and the weapon used was seized from him. He added, the town's Anti-Crime Division detachments also arrested an accused wanted for forgery in accordance with the provisions of Article 298/289 of the Penal Code. Meanwhile, the detachments of the Haritha Crime Control Division were able to arrest two accused of rape who was wanted by a judicial authority in accordance with the provisions of Article 393 of the Iraqi Penal Code. He added that legal measures have been taken against them and they have been referred to the judiciary. He pointed out that security measures and precautions have been taken to maintain security in the governorate and that the utmost caution has been taken, stressing the intensification of the effective security presence to prevent anyone who dares to tamper with security and stability from losing the opportunity. He added that we are determined to achieve our mission of providing security, and we will continue to strike with an iron fist those who break the law and order in the service of our beloved Iraq and our bright city of Basra.
