Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, BOC signed a cooperation agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s International Olympic Academy (IOA).
Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, GSA’s CEO, Fares Al-Kooheji, BOC Secretary-General, in addition to several IOA officials, attended the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, BOC’s Olympic Academy and IOC’s IOA will enhance their cooperation through the exchange of expertise.
The agreement also stipulates that IOA’s lecturers will provide training programmes and courses in the kingdom.
The agreement will also pave the way for a number of Bahrainis to study the Olympic Masters offered by the International Olympic Academy.
Commenting, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed his great pleasure at signing the agreement with the International Olympic Academy, which is one of the oldest and largest scientific sports bodies in the world, as it supervises all Olympic academies affiliated with national Olympic Committees.
His Highness added that BOC attaches great importance to administrative and technical programmes that contribute to the graduation of qualified sports competencies from the most prestigious sports universities and institutes.
HH Shaikh Khalid indicated that BOC will continue supporting Olympic education and promoting sports culture, which will reflect positively on the outputs of the sports movement in the kingdom.
