London: The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ bombardment of medical facilities in the Gaza Strip on Sunday after two Israeli missiles hit a building inside a hospital in the Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed his disapproval through a brief post on social media platforms. He stated that Israel’s attacks on medical facilities have comprehensively degraded access to healthcare in Gaza. Lammy emphasized that the repeated attacks on Al Ahli Baptist Hospital since the conflict began must end, advocating for diplomacy as the only pathway to a lasting peace rather than more bloodshed.
The incident occurred early at dawn on Sunday when the Israeli occupation forces bombed the reception building of Al Ahli Baptist Hospital with two missiles. The attack resulted in the building’s complete destruction and ignited a fire that spread to other departments, causing extensive damage and bringing the hospital operations to a complete halt.
In the aftermath, hundreds of patients and wounded individuals, some in critical condition, were forced to evacuate to the surrounding streets. They were left without medical care amidst the darkness and cold, highlighting the dire situation faced by civilians in the area.
