Cabinet Hails Success of Shura Council Members Election Process

HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired the regular meeting held yesterday by the Cabinet at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan.

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet hailed the success made by the Shura Council members election process, which was characterized by integrity, transparency and good organization, and the high patriotic spirit that prevailed, reflecting the Qatari people's awareness and deep realization of their national responsibilities and duties.

During the meeting, the Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary procedures and measures that have been taken in order to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

After that, the Cabinet considered the below topics on the agenda:

1- Approval of a draft decision of the Minister of Interior to amend some provisions of Resolution No.51 of 2016 on the formation of Migrant Workers Exit Permit Grievances Committee.

2- Approval of a draft decision of the Minister of Municipality and Environment amending some provisions of the executive regulations of Law No.30 of 2002 promulgating the Law of Environment Protection.

The draft decision aims to regulate the establishment, installation and operation of stations for continuous monitoring of the quality of marine water, the requirements and technical specifications, and to link these stations with the national network for monitoring the quality of marine water in the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.

3- Review of the reports of the Permanent Water Resources Committee on its works from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

The Permanent Water Resources Committee indicated that it discussed a number of topics related to the groundwater axis, the treated wastewater axis, the desalinated water axis, and the axis of the policies, strategy and regulations of the country’s water resources, and appropriate recommendations have been made about them.
