Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Mohannadi, Assistant Chairman of the General Authority of Customs (GAC) for Customs' Affairs, has disclosed the implementation of an electronic customs clearance system related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ that is termed as "a simplified declaration". This system allows an electronic track of goods, categorized at the level of 10 main groups, which are a legal entity affiliated with the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA). The system also allows a swift entry with a customs exemption, as well as ensuring the safety of goods and protecting community security.
Mr. Al Mohannadi clarified that GAC during the 2022 tournament is implementing a strategy that will achieve balance between tightening control and facilitating customs' procedures. He noted that operating procedures have been planned for customs' ports (land – sea – air – affiliated free zones) in a manner that allows full readiness for receiving (individuals – goods – vehicles – containers – and others), in accordance with high-quality customs' tracks that will ensure swift and accurate customs' clearance processes with tightening security measures and attempting to predict potential risks.
