Department of Meteorology Issues Alert for Strong Winds and High Seas

DOHA: The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for strong winds and high seas, effective tonight until 6:00 a.m. on Friday. The department’s daily weather report indicates cold conditions with some cloudiness inshore, while offshore areas may experience scattered clouds and a chance of rain in the northern regions.

According to Qatar News Agency, the wind inshore is expected to blow from the northwest at speeds ranging from 8 to 18 knots, with gusts reaching up to 24 knots at times. Offshore, the northwesterly winds will reach speeds of 15 to 25 knots, gusting up to 32 knots. These conditions are expected to impact visibility, which will range from 4 to 9 kilometers.

The sea state will reflect the windy conditions, with inshore waves reaching heights of 3 to 5 feet. Offshore, the waves are expected to be between 4 to 8 feet, potentially surging to 10 feet at times. Residents and maritime operators are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.
