Deployment of Nuclear Weapons in European Countries Threatens Russian National Security

Moscow: Deployment of nuclear weapons in non-nuclear European countries poses risks to Russian national security, according to a statement from Moscow.

According to Qatar News Agency, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, emphasized that the presence of nuclear weapons in non-nuclear European countries, including Finland, poses risks to Russia's national security. He added that Russia has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of US nuclear weapons from Europe and the elimination of the relevant infrastructure.

Gatilov highlighted that withdrawing US nuclear weapons from European countries and non-nuclear countries abandoning their ambitions to engage in "joint nuclear missions" and "expanded nuclear deterrence" would contribute to restoring confidence and strengthening the regional security architecture.
