Doha: The Doha Forum, recognized as a leading global platform, has been pivotal in addressing contemporary international issues. It stands as one of the largest international platforms for diplomacy, dialogue, and diversity, annually gathering a wide array of heads of state and government, policymakers, opinion leaders, and representatives from the private sector, civil society, non-governmental organizations, and the media worldwide. According to Qatar News Agency, the Forum aims to tackle global challenges by providing innovative and implementable solutions, thereby enhancing international cooperation and contributing to the formulation of effective future policies. Established in 2000 by HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Forum is held annually in Doha with notable local and international participation. Each session operates under an annual slogan determined by the organizing committee, focusing on critical global challenges, the exchange of ideas, policy-making, and presenting appl icable recommendations. Since its inception, the Forum has held 21 editions, beginning in 2001. It was initially organized by the Gulf Studies Center at Qatar University in cooperation with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the theme "Democracy and Free Trade". The inaugural event welcomed 500 participants from official, academic, research, media, and cultural circles across 30 countries, along with international and regional bodies and organizations. Previous editions have explored numerous issues such as geopolitical alliances, international relations, the financial system and economic development, defense, cybersecurity, food security, sustainability, climate change, technology, trade, investment, human capital, inequality, security, and cyberspace governance. The Forum's success, highlighted by conferences like the Enriching the Economic Future of the Middle East Conference, has solidified its role as an independent event focusing on urgent economic issues and future prospects in the Mid dle East and Mediterranean region. The Forum underwent a significant transformation in its seventh edition, becoming the Doha Forum on Democracy, Development, and Free Trade. This shift brought to the forefront various issues concerning the Arab world, including politics, development, security, free trade, information, culture, education, modern technology, and globalization. Subsequent editions continued to emphasize economic growth, democratic change, regional stability, and global security. The Arab Spring revolutions were central to discussions during the 11th and 12th editions. By the 16th edition, the Forum had once again separated from the Enriching the Economic Future of the Middle East Conference, focusing on achieving regional and global stability amidst major challenges in defense, security, economy, energy, and civil society. In May 2017, the 17th edition addressed themes of "Development, Stability, and Refugee Crisis", while the 18th edition in December 2018 centered around "Shaping Policy in an Interconnected World". This event marked the launch of a new visual identity under the slogan "Diplomacy, Dialogue, Diversity", aimed at enhancing the Forum's global presence and reputation in policy formulation. December 2019 saw the 19th edition of the Forum under the theme "Reimagining. Governance in a Multipolar World", and introduced a youth edition in collaboration with the QatarDebate Center. This initiative aimed to involve young participants in decision-making, allowing them to discuss the Forum's themes and submit recommendations. The event attracted over 3,000 participants from various countries, reflecting the Forum's expansive reach and influence.
