Doha’s Diplomatic Surge Highlights Qatar’s Role in Global Security

Doha: Al-Sharq newspaper reported that Doha is witnessing a diplomatic movement this week that underscores Qatar’s position as a pivotal center for global dialogue and coordination on security and strategic matters. These activities occur as international challenges diminish, showcasing Qatar’s role in enhancing global security.

According to Qatar News Agency, under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Doha is set to host the seventh edition of the Global Security Forum 2025. The event, themed “The Impact of Non-State Actors on Global Security,” is a key global platform for addressing contemporary security issues, gathering decision-makers, experts, and representatives from international institutions.

Additionally, Doha recently hosted the second Qatar-UK Strategic Dialogue, featuring high-level delegations from both nations. This dialogue serves as a crucial platform for strengthening Qatar-UK bilateral relations and exploring cooperation in defense, security, economy, energy, education, and technology.

Al-Sharq emphasized that this active diplomatic week is a testament to the effectiveness of Qatari diplomacy in establishing the country as an influential player in shaping regional and international policies. It also highlights Qatar’s role as a vital link among various parties in a rapidly changing world.

Meanwhile, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted the challenges faced by the Israeli Prime Minister, whose attempts to alter Israeli society and diminish the Palestinian cause have met with failure. Al-Watan noted the growing global sympathy for Palestinians and increasing opposition within Israeli society, expressing concern that Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued leadership could harm Israel.

On the local front, The Peninsula newspaper focused on the Amir Cup, Qatar’s premier local football tournament, as the Qatar Stars League season comes to a close. The upcoming Qatar Cup final has generated excitement among fans following the Round of 16 draw in Doha.

In its editorial titled “Amir Cup Sparks Excitement,” The Peninsula mentioned that the iconic Khalifa International Stadium will host the Amir Cup final on May 24. Other stadiums, including Al-Thumama, Jassim bin Hamad, and Abdullah bin Khalifa, will host knockout matches, drawing passionate fans nationwide to support their teams.

The Peninsula concluded by noting that with the Qatar Cup final between Al-Sadd and Al-Duhail scheduled for May 10, May is set to be a peak month for football in Qatar.
