Egypt Calls UNDP to Support Arab Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

Doha: Egypt expressed looking forward to gaining support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in implementing the Arab Plan for the Reconstruction of Gaza and leveraging its expertise in the early recovery phase, in addition to supporting the Cairo Ministerial Conference for the Reconstruction of Gaza, which will be jointly organized with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.

According to Qatar News Agency, this came during a meeting today in Cairo between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty and Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, Abdallah Al Dardari. The meeting discussed the Arab Plan for the Reconstruction of Gaza and the Cairo Ministerial Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today that the UN official expressed the UN’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s sincere efforts in preparing the Early Recovery and Reconstruction Plan for Gaza, which was adopted by the recent extraordinary Arab Summit held in Egypt and the ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Saudi Arabia.

He also expressed his readiness to provide all forms of technical and logistical support during the next phase, contributing to the success of the Cairo Conference for the Reconstruction of Gaza. He noted that he is placing the accumulated expertise of the United Nations Development Programme in early recovery and reconstruction at Egypt’s disposal, enabling it to benefit from it and contribute to the implementation of the Arab Plan for the Reconstruction of Gaza.
