Cairo, Egypt's Ministry of Youth and Sports launched the first version of a simulation model for an Arab youth parliament, in cooperation with the Arab League (AL). The six-day event will be held under the rubric of "towards sustainable community participation" with the participation of 100 youth from 16 Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Somalia, Tunisia, Oman, Algeria, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Mauritania, Yemen, Libya, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and Egypt, as hosting country, on July 21-27 at Engineering Authority Guest House, according to MENA. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports of Egypt, said that the model is a dialogue platform for youth that contributes to implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to prepare a young generation capable of shouldering responsibility and participation in political life, handling the challenges and planning for a more sustainable and stable future. The ministry is working to empower youth in the different domains via expanding their participation and contribution to building Egyptian and Arab youth cadres and transferring the work expertise of the AL to Arab youth, he said. Sobhy said that the Arab youth is part of the Arab soft power, adding that their potential can be used to serve their societies. The axes of the model will focus on a political axis on the role of youth in raising awareness of Palestinian cause and identifying Egypt's role in political empowerment via starting a parliament, an economic axis which includes discussions and comprehensive dialogues on the role of youth in boosting Arab economic integration and a social axis on promoting the role of youth in building sustainable talking communities via dialogue and citizenship, he said.
