Doha: Egypt on Saturday reiterated its firm stance of rejection of any attempt to displace the Palestinians from their lands, warning of the consequences of the disgraceful global silence over the events unfolding in the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was made during a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and a delegation from the Palestinian Fatah Movement. They discussed the current developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, following a dangerous escalation by the Israeli entity.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s rejection of attempts by the Israeli entity to undermine the unity of the Palestinian territories. This includes efforts to separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, as well as the ongoing aggression in these regions. The statement criticized the Israeli aggressive policy and the use of disproportionate military force, which it claims disregards international humanitarian law.
Abdelatty further emphasized Egypt’s strong opposition to the continuation of Israeli practices against civilians, which he described as actions of a state acting above the law. He argued that these actions would not enhance Israel’s security, but rather incite hatred and revenge in the region.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister warned that Israel’s practices pose significant obstacles to peaceful co-existence among the region’s peoples. He noted that such actions could severely impact the region’s security and stability, undermining prospects for lasting peace.
The statement also highlighted Abdelatty’s discussion of the Arab-Islamic plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. He underscored the importance of strengthening Palestinian unity and the role of the Palestinian national authority, aiming to fulfill the aspirations and hopes of the Palestinian people.
Additionally, Abdelatty advocated for a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian cause through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
