Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit regional and global issues, and ways to stop the genocide committed by Israel in Palestine and the aggression on Lebanon. Erdogan stressed during a meeting between them on Wednesday in the Turkish capital Ankara, according to a statement published by the Turkish Presidency's Communications Department, that Israel is trying to spread the conflict throughout the region, and that its goal is to leave the Palestinians without land in their homeland. He pointed out that Turkey continues its efforts in all fields to ensure that Israel does not escape punishment for the crimes it commits. The Turkish President stressed the need to impose a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel in order to increase pressure on it to stop its aggression. On another level, Erdogan expressed Turkey's hope that tensions in Syria, Libya, Somalia and Ethiopia will end as soon as possible, and that those countries will enjoy peace, prosp erity and stability.
