Doha: The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med Monitor) on Sunday called on the international community to take all possible legal, political, and humanitarian measures to lift the unlawful blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip: The organization highlighted the urgent need for effective and immediate delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid through all available land crossings, sea lanes, and air bridges into the enclave.
According to Qatar News Agency, Euro-Med Monitor emphasized the necessity for genuine protection of relief workers and personnel involved in food distribution facilities. It also condemned the deliberate targeting of charitable kitchens and humanitarian depots, describing these actions as direct violations of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilian facilities and humanitarian aid, aiming to disrupt efforts to alleviate famine.
The statement further criticized the currently circulated Israeli occupation’s plan for Gaza humanitarian aid, labeling it as a maneuver to continue the unlawful blockade. It argued that this plan reintroduces the crime of starvation in a misleading guise, imparting a false humanitarian appearance that legitimizes its continued use as a weapon within the ongoing genocide that has persisted for over 19 months.
