Doha: European shares closed higher Monday, as initial concerns over the stability of the US banking sector eased. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index jumped about 1 percent.
According to Qatar News Agency, the industrial sector was the biggest supporter of the Stoxx 600 index, rising 1.9 percent. Defense companies led the way, with the broader index rising 2.8 percent. Rheinmetall shares rose 5.9 percent, Henselt rose 7.9 percent, and Renk gained 6.8 percent.
The banking sector rose 1 percent on Monday, as US banking shares rebounded in the previous session after quarterly results from regional banks, helping to ease concerns about credit risks. BNP Paribas shares fell 7.7 percent.
