Five inmates from Al-Shabaab movement affiliated with Al-Qaeda were killed in a prison riot shootout with the security guards of Hamar Central Prison, in Mogadishu, Somalia. Somali National News Agency quoted a statement from Hamar Central Prison, on Saturday, as saying that the five inmates exchanged fire with the security guards inside the prison and tried to shoot their way out. The five inmates were sentenced to death due to their affiliation with Al-Shabaab movement associated with Al-Qaeda. For more than a decade, the Somali security forces have been engaging in combat operations with Al-Shabaab movement, with the latter launching numerous attacks that claimed hundreds of lives among the civilian population and security personnel. And within months the security forces succeeded in capturing many areas in the middle of the country. Source: Qatar News Agency
