Food Security Forum Discusses Application of Agricultural Technologies in OIC Countries

The second day of the high-level forum of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) saw the continuation of its activities with participation from a distinguished group of international experts, innovators, policymakers, and individuals interested in discovering and promoting advanced agricultural technologies for sustainable food systems in member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The forum's second day featured three dynamic sessions and a policy roundtable. These sessions delved into the latest developments in agricultural technology and practical applications.

The first session highlighted organic and climate-smart agriculture, local energy-efficient methods in hot desert climates, and innovative solutions to maximize food crops with minimal external interventions. The second session addressed technology and innovations in water management, studying successful technological practices in agricultural water management and facilitating the exchange of insights and experiences. This session showcased the new generation of agricultural irrigation systems, irrigation facility management systems, sustainable agriculture through hydroponics, and unconventional water resources for agricultural food production. The third session meanwhile focused on enhancing agricultural food production through emerging technologies to combat food waste and reduce it. It also discussed systems supporting artificial intelligence for monitoring and predicting crop diseases. Additionally, it explored the role of information technology, communication, and electronic platforms in serving farmers. The session also highlighted developments in improving agricultural productivity in arid climates.

In a related context, the forum hosted a policy roundtable on several key topics, including political interventions, government initiatives, public-private partnerships, international cooperation, and the transformative role of agricultural technology and innovations in food systems. The roundtable featured prominent experts and policy-makers who shared their insights and recommendations.

The advanced agricultural technology forum for food security aims to bridge the gap between innovation and implementation. It inspires decision-makers to take concrete actions towards building flexible food systems for a better future. The outcomes of the forum will be included in the Doha Declaration of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, which will be launched tomorrow at the forum's conclusion.

It is worth noting that the second high-level forum seeks to provide advanced agricultural technology, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and contribute to the development of sustainable food systems in various regions within the scope of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation through the presentation of practical solutions and cost-effective practices.
