Foreign Minister discusses with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iraq strengthening bilateral relations

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iraq, Nasir Mammadov at the Ministry's headquarters in Baghdad today, Sunday. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries were discussed, with a focus on the importance of activating the economic file and increasing the volume of trade exchange. Procedures to facilitate the issues of Iraqi students in Azerbaijan, and the issue of recognizing Azerbaijani universities in coordination with the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research were also discussed. The climate summit scheduled to be held in Baku next month, and the participation of the Iraqi delegation headed by the President of the Republic, were also discussed. The two parties discussed the importance of activating the proposed initiatives, including calling on all countries concerned with conflicts to cease fire du ring the conference period. The Azerbaijani ambassador referred to the upcoming visit of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister to Iraq, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries through signing agreements and memoranda of understanding, in addition to Azerbaijan's readiness to cooperate with Iraq in the field of energy and supply of natural gas. The Ambassador also referred to the holding of a conference on religions and religious tolerance in Baku before the end of this year, expressing his aspiration for the participation of Iraqi clerics in this conference to promote the culture of dialogue and tolerance among different religions. For his part, the Minister welcomed the proposed initiatives, and praised the desire of the Azerbaijani side to cooperate in the field of energy.
