Manama, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for Human Rights, commended the order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to establish the King Hamad Award for Peaceful Coexistence. The minister said the initiative was a significant addition to the Kingdom's achievements and its historical and civilisational heritage, highlighting Bahrain as a global model in promoting the values of tolerance, dialogue, understanding, and peaceful coexistence. He underscored that the award carries a message of fraternity, tolerance, and peace from the Kingdom to the entire world, reflecting the humanitarian approach of HM the King, directives of the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Dr. Al Zayani praised the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence for its role in implementing the royal vision and highlighting the Kingdom's standing as a beaco n of peace and coexistence. He highlighted the centre's efforts in upholding intellectual diversity and religious freedoms, and in fostering global contributions and initiatives in civilisational dialogue. This comes in line with the Constitution, the principles of the National Action Charter, the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration, and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026). The minister said the award was part of HM the King's pioneering initiatives on both regional and international levels. These initiatives include the call to convene and host an international peace conference in the Middle East to resolve the Palestinian issue and establish an independent Palestinian state, the provision of health and educational services to those affected by conflicts, the advocacy for an international convention to criminalise hate speech based on religion, sect, and race, as well as other global contributions and awards aimed at serving humanity, empowering women and youth, and supporting education and sustainable d evelopment goals. Dr. Al Zayani underscored Bahrain's commitment to advancing its human rights and civilisational achievements while pursuing a foreign policy that fosters global solidarity, resolves conflicts, combats extremism, and promotes tolerance and understanding as essential for upholding human rights and ensuring international peace and security.
