The fourth human rights dialogue meeting between the State of Qatar and the European Union’s European External Action Service (EEAS) was held on Monday in Brussels.
The delegation of the State of Qatar participating in the meeting was headed by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the European Union and NATO Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki and HE Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Turki bin Abdulla Al Mahmoud. On the other hand, the European Union’s delegation was headed by HE Head of the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq Division in the EEAS Anna-Maria Panagiotakopoulou.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest updates in the human rights situation in the State of Qatar, especially issues related to women and migrant workers, and the State of Qatar’s commitment to the rights of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 projects’ workers, in addition to a number of issues of mutual concern, particularly refugee issues in Europe and the fight against hate speech and Islamophobia.
The meeting was attended by representatives of a number of Qatari government agencies, as well as the mission of the State of Qatar to the European Union in Brussels.
