The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Friday condemned the storming by an occupation government's member, parliamentarians and extremists of Al-Aqsa Mosque under Israeli police protection.
GCC Secretary-General Jassem bin Mohammed Al-Budaiwi said in a statement that continued attempts by occupation forces to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque is deemed a serious escalation and desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
He emphasized that the international community and relevant regional and international organizations should work so seriously and effectively to put an end to the continued Israeli violations of Palestinian territories.
The GCC Secretary-General stressed the importance of supporting all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East.
He also reiterated the GCC member states' firm stances towards the Palestinian cause as being the prime issue of Arabs and Muslims, backing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-June 4, 1967 border.
