Doha: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, met with the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, Dr. Maksym Subkh, to discuss pressing issues, primarily the ongoing Ukrainian-Russian crisis.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on reaffirming the GCC’s stance as outlined in the Ministerial Council’s statement during its 163rd session. The GCC emphasizes adherence to international law principles and the United Nations Charter, highlighting the importance of maintaining international order through respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, and non-interference in internal affairs, while advocating against the use of force or threats.
Albudaiwi also discussed the GCC’s mediation efforts and initiatives aimed at facilitating a political solution to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. He underscored the GCC countries’ support for all international and regional efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Dr. Subkh expressed gratitude for the GCC countries’ efforts in mediation and their provision of humanitarian and relief assistance to the people of Ukraine.
