Riyadh: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, reaffirmed the GCC countries’ support for the United Nations’ (UN) efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen. This declaration was made during Albudaiwi’s meeting with Hans Grundberg, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for Yemen.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on the latest developments in Yemen and discussed issues of mutual concern. Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of achieving security and stability in Yemen through a comprehensive political solution. This solution is to be based on the GCC Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of Yemen’s Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
Albudaiwi underscored the commitment of GCC countries to preserving Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence. The Secretary General highlighted the GCC’s support for all efforts aligned with these objectives, reiterating the regional body’s dedication to facilitating a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
