Steadily improving with every run, the four-year-old CATCH UP EFFECT (Oasis Dream x Daana Qatar) opened his account when carrying the colours of his owner His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani to success in the Prix Ile De Molene (Maiden) at Pornichet on Tuesday, January 11th.
Trained by Edouard Monfort, the gelding was having his fourth career start and took the 2,100m contest in fine style, under a confident ride from Yohann Barille. On his penultimate start, Catch Up Effect finished a close third at Chantilly over 1,900m and looked to benefit from the step up in trip.
Quickly away from the stalls, Catch Up Effect took a lead from Mister Grenadine (Anodin) through the opening stages of the race. Taking over in the lead with a circuit to go, Catch Up Effect travelled enthusiastically and always looked in command. Leaving the backstraight, Catch Up Effect maintained a four-length advantage over Maestro (Gleneagles), with Mister Grenadine back in third. Sent further clear once in the straight, Catch Up Effect was never troubled by his rivals and powered through the line to score by six lengths from a rallying Mister Grenadine and Dhakirah (French Fifteen) who came out of the pack to finish third.
Bred by Al Shahania Stud, Catch Up Effect is by Juddmonte stallion Oasis Dream (Green Desert). His dam Daana Qatar (Galileo) won her maiden at three and is sister to Listed winner Trethias (Invincible Spirit), and also Argentello (Intello), who was listed placed.
