WEETAMOO homebred WEETAMOO (IRE) (Le Havre x Wild Silva), the representative of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani, easily dominated her rivals in the Prix de la Chézine, a Class 2 over 2400 metres, which is one of the best races for three-year-olds, of the Nantes racing calendar, on Sunday, June 7.
The Philippe Sogorb-trained runner raced in fourth throughout the early stages. Just before the final bend, WEETAMOO’s response was immediate to jockey Alejandro Gutiérrez Val’s signal and she went on the offensive, hacking up by six lengths at the main expense of COEUR DAVIER (FR) (Putra x Double Mix) who gained the minor honours for trainer Étienne Leenders and jockey Maximilien Justum. The Ludovic Gadbin-trained and Anthony Barzalona-ridden POLLY SHINE (FR) (Tin Horse x Sienna May) was further three and a half lengths behind in third.
“The conditions of the race were very much in her favour”, said Philippe Sogorb, “We were disappointed by her recent fifth place in the Prix de La Seine (L) at ParisLongchamp. The aim was to give the filly an easy race which would enable her to get back to winning ways. I think a lot of the filly. Weetambo is definitely a filly who is at least listed class. We will enter her for the Gr3 Prix Minerve at Deauville in August.”
