Gaza - Ma'an - The Hamas movement announced on Friday evening that it viewed positively the contents of US President Joe Biden's speech, including his call for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and an exchange of prisoners. The Hamas movement explained in an official statement that "this American position and the conviction that has been established on the regional and international scene of the necessity of putting an end to the war on Gaza is the result of the legendary steadfastness of the Mujahid people and their valiant resistance." It also affirmed its "position of readiness to deal positively and constructively with any proposal based on a permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction, the return of the displaced to all their places of residence, and the completion of a serious prisoner exchange deal if the Israeli occupation announces its explicit commitment to that." US President Joe Biden announced on Friday evening a new plan propos ed by Israel consisting of three stages to stop the war in the Gaza Strip. He also indicated that the proposal includes a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, the release of detainees, and reconstruction.
