Konya- Qatar's Hamdi Ali has cleared 2.14m to claim the gold medal of men's high jump event at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya on Friday.
Today's rich haul of medals began with the silver medal of Abdulrahman Hassan at men's 1500m, then Ahmed Majour clinched the silver medal of men's javelin throw event.
Moreover, Qatar's Ismail Abakar, Ammar Ibrahim, Abubaker Abdulla and Bassem Hemeida took silver medal of men’s 4x400m relay event.
Friday's four medals brought Qatar's tally of medals to 10 including 3 gold medals, 4 silver medal and 3 bronze medals.
Qatar’s handball team held Saudi Arabia to a 27-27 in the second round game at the Islamic Solidarity Games to face Iranian counterparts in the semifinal stage on Saturday.
Qatar’s Fencing and basketball teams arrived in Turkish’s city of Konya on Thursday and started their training sessions on Friday and getting ready to start official campaign in the Games.
This fifth edition of Islamic Solidarity Games is running from 9th to 18th of August with participation of approximately 6000 athletes from 58 countries.
The state of Qatar is participating in 14 sport disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, handball, cycling, athletics, swimming, shooting, Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, weightlifting, wrestling, fencing and gymnastics.
