Health Minister Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayyed Hasan attended the 59th session of the Council of Arab League Health Ministers and its executive board.
The meeting which was held at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, was attended by member states, on the sidelines of the 76th regular session of the World Health Organization (WHO), which was held from May 21 to 30 in Geneva.
Dr. Hasan expressed pride in Bahrain's hosting the Arab-German Conference and Exhibition for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies, next December, wishing success for the forum, which is considered the first of its kind in the region.
Incumbent head of the current session Algerian Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi, Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Chair of the Executive Board Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar and Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Social Affairs Haifa Abu Ghazala addressed the session.
During the session, the Arab strategy for a health-friendly budget was launched, providing a key reference for Arab countries to develop health budgets that are more responsive and flexible to the needs of their populations.
The delegations discussed health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the health conditions in the occupied Syrian Golan, in addition to the Arab strategy for a health-friendly budget.
The session also focused on the hosting the Arab-German Conference and Exhibition for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies in Bahrain, in addition to the joint speech of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health before the 76th session of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization, which was delivered by the Yemeni Minister of Health.
The session welcomed the hosting of the Ministerial Forum for Health and Environment in the Kingdom of Morocco, thanking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the first meeting of the Arab drug regulatory authorities and the meeting of the Technical Committee for Medicine.
