Manama, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs commended the achievements of Bahrain's athletes at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou 2022.
During a meeting with the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games champions and the Olympic Committee's administrative delegation, he praised their performance and dedication to representing the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, was present.
HH relayed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's congratulations to the Bahraini heroes who won 20 coloured medals, including 12 gold, 3 silvers, and 5 bronzes.
HH Shaikh Nasser also praised the "Team Bahrain" for their performance in the Asian Games, placing ninth in Asia and first in the Arab world , which is the the biggest number of gold medals since Bahrain's 1974 participation. The team also set seven new records for the Asian Games.
HH Shaikh Nasser praised the Bahraini national teams for their fighting spirit, determination, and persistence during the tournament.
HH commanded achievements in athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, handball, and jiu-jitsu, highlighting the growing development of Bahraini sports and the true nature of Bahraini players.
HH Shaikh Nasser also praised the sacrifices of the technical and administrative teams, who were essential partners in achieving this achievement.
HH said that with the support of HM the King, Bahraini sports is living a golden age. This achievement behind and strive for excellence in the Games.
Bahraini sports are confident in their teams' ability to excel at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and they hope to expand the circle of achievements in the Games.
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed confidence in the teams' ability to excel at the 2024 Paris Olympics, stating that they aim to leave this achievement behind and strive for higher levels of achievement in other new games, fostering a circle of achievements.
HH Shaikh Nasser noted the support and follow-up of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Head of Bahrain’s delegation to the Asian Games and BOC Secretary-General, Fares Mustafa Al-Kooheji, will be the Deputy Head of the delegation and the crucial role of the administrative and media mission and wished them success.
HH Shaikh Khalid expressed pride in the kingdom's historic achievement in the Asian Games, the second-largest multi-sport event globally.
He praised the support and follow-up from HH Shaikh Nasser who represents pride for all athletes and serves as a role model for the country's youth.
HH dedicated the achievement to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government for their support of the sports movement.
HH Shaikh Khalid commended the administrative, media, and sports federations for their efforts in the Olympic movement, highlighting the joint work between all parties before, during, and after the tournament. He wished Bahraini sports further progress and prosperity.
