Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed Qatar’s pride in hosting the Second World Summit for Social Development, marking thirty years since the first summit in Copenhagen in 1995. The Amir’s address highlighted Qatar’s dedication to collective global action in tackling challenges that impede economic growth and hinder human development, posing threats to social peace.
According to Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir emphasized that hosting the summit reflects Qatar’s commitment to addressing global challenges through collective action. He stressed the importance of advancing social development, supporting international efforts to eradicate poverty, creating job opportunities, and promoting human dignity and social inclusion. These efforts aim to pave the way for a future characterized by greater prosperity and justice for all.
His Highness noted that social development is not optional but a fundamental necessity. As the world commemorates the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the summit offers an opportunity to renew commitment to its Charter, enhance multilateral cooperation, and reinforce social development as a cornerstone for achieving global security, prosperity, and stability.
