The National Security Service announced today, Wednesday, the seizure of about 'one million and four hundred thousand' narcotic pills hidden inside rolls of cloth in the capital, Baghdad. The Service said in a statement, 'With a qualitative intelligence operation characterized by precision and diligent efforts, and in coordination with the National Security detachments in Baghdad, a force from the Najaf Security Directorate was able to seize about one million and four hundred thousand Captagon-type narcotic pills secretly hidden inside rolls of cloth of different sizes, estimated at (440) in number.' The roll was prepared for smuggling through a cargo shipping company. The statement added, "The operation took place after obtaining judicial approvals and intensifying the intelligence effort, which led to the arrest of one of the accused red-handed on (30/3/2024) in his possession of receipts in the name of the goods transport company." He continued, "The accused was referred with the seized items to the co mpetent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against him in accordance with the law.
